Alnus Incana (Grey Alder) - Bareroot Available November to March - (120 - 150cm)

The fastest growing of the alder tribe, can produce a metre a year of new growth. This is the supreme tree for poor sites and boggy ground. The grey undersides of the leaves give the grey alder its common name, being more felted and prominent than the common alder. Long yellow/brown catkins are borne in the late winter/spring. A very good windbreak and screening plant which will also increase the fertility of the soil.

Planting Grey Alder
Will grow in most soils, including chalk.
Ensure that the planting hole is wide enough to spread out the roots without bending.
Mulch around the sapling leaving a good couple of inches around the stem to ensure good air circulation.
